GETTING MARRIED IN FRANCE
There are a number of requirements that have to be met before you can legally get married in France. Residency in France for at least a month in the place in which you intend to marry, sometimes blood test are required (apparently an old Napoleonic law) and a lot of paper work! What couples tend to do is to have a secret legal ceremony in the UK (some brides have even been known to remove their wedding ring immediately after the ceremony to conceal they are married) and treat the ceremony & celebrations in France as the real thing! In France you have the option of having a religious ceremony in a local church or a ceremony/blessing here in the grounds.
